Then Disaster Struck - How Queensbury's local paper reported Rye's win

Posted Sunday, November 29, 2009 by James Powers
Queensbury fell behind 2-0 to Rye in the second game, but came back to score four straight times. Goals by Anthony Langevin, Connor Potvin, Brad Willows and Kevin Valenti gave the Spartans a 4-2 lead midway through the second period.

Then disaster struck. Rye scored three times in less than three minutes to take a one-goal lead. The Spartans pressed hard in the third period, but Rye weathered the storm.

"We shouldn't have been in the position we were in," Queensbury coach Dean Williams said. "At 4-2, we thought the game was over. "(The players) pick and choose when they want to play. Maybe this is a good lesson to learn early in the season. You can't pick and choose when you want to play."
